We did gardening with The Garden Club of Windham on Tuesday, October, 18 in Willimantic. Before we started working, we heard about why the garden was created from Lynn White, who is one of members of the garden club. The Garden Club of Windham’s mission is to provide garden beautification in town and involve people in its community.

We cleaned up and beautified the public garden near the Willimantic Footbridge. We pulled out weeds and cut the dry flower branches. We raked fallen leaves and plant waste, and collected them to put in a few baskets. After gardening, we tidied up using the push broom on the street. We could feel fulfilled and accomplished because we can see the remarkable results. We had the chance to see beautiful falls, also.

Most students were doing gardening for their first time. Our classmates really enjoyed gardening; we didn’t even feel time passing. Actually, it was a beautiful sunny day to garden. We helped beautify their town. We also learned that gardening and beautification are types of service learning.
